Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Algoma invite the community to a free concert on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. featuring folk-Americana duo The Mrs. Dunbars. A “Love Offering” will be collected during the concert. Free ice cream sundaes will be served after the show which has been organized by the congregation as a way to open its doors to its neighbors for a night of music and fun.
The Mrs. Dunbars (Hope and Emily) have such on-stage chemistry you’d swear they were sisters. Though each writes independently, their styles are complementary– at turns hilarious and heartbreaking but always honest. Their distinct voices shine in contrast and fuse together in harmony, begging comparisons to The Mamas and The Papas (minus the Papas), Dixie Chicks, The Be Good Tanyas, or Mary Chapin Carpenter. The duo got their name by marrying brothers. Hope and Emily are sisters-in-law who each have a solo career, make up two-thirds of Star Belle Ukulele Trio, participated in the 2014 online song-a-week challenge RealWomenRealSongs, and now join together as the eponymous Mrs. Dunbars bringing acoustic folk/Americana and their humorous on-stage presence to the Midwest.
St. John Lutheran Church is located at E5221 Church Rd. (Hwy 54), Algoma.
