Our Youth Group at St. John's Lutheran Church provides high school students with opportunities to grow in their Christian faith, build lasting friendships, serve others, and enjoy time together. Rooted in God's Word and our Lutheran confession of faith, the Youth Group encourages young people to live out their faith in the congregation, the community, and beyond.
Our Youth Group meets monthly for fellowship, fun, and spiritual growth. Each meeting typically includes a game or activity, a brief business meeting to plan upcoming events and projects, and a devotion centered on God's Word. These gatherings give our young people an opportunity to strengthen friendships, take responsibility for their group's activities, and grow together as Christians.
Serving others is an important part of our Youth Group. Throughout the year, our youth participate in service projects both within the congregation and in the surrounding community. These opportunities help young people put their faith into action, develop leadership skills, and learn the joy of serving their neighbors in Christian love.
One of the highlights of our Youth Group is our summer mission trips. These trips take our young people beyond their familiar surroundings to serve communities in need, experience different parts of the country, and grow in faith and friendship.
Recent trips include New York City in 2024 and South Carolina in 2026. Mission trips combine meaningful service with Christian fellowship, devotions, and opportunities to learn about the people and communities we visit. They often become some of the most memorable experiences of our young people's high school years.
Our youth also have opportunities to participate in the LCMS National Youth Gathering, a major event that brings together thousands of Lutheran young people from across the country. Through worship, Bible study, presentations, music, and fellowship, participants are encouraged in their identity as baptized children of God and reminded that they belong to a much larger community of Christians who share their faith.
Our Youth Group also hosts monthly breakfasts, providing an opportunity for our young people to work together, serve the congregation, and connect with members of all generations. These breakfasts are a valued part of congregational life and help our youth develop a sense of responsibility and belonging within the church.
At St. John's, we believe our young people are not merely the future of the Church. They are already an important part of the Church today. Through worship, Bible study, fellowship, service, and shared experiences, our Youth Group helps students grow in their understanding of God's Word and their place in the Christian community.
